Dear I.M.A.G.E. Students and Moms,
True to Lost Tools of Writing's warning, "sorting" our ANI charts proved challenging to some of our students. Not to worry... A "Sorting Worksheet" is on its way to make things easier. We will review the process and the new cheat sheet over the next weeks.
A new scheme called Parallelism was introduced, in which parts of speech are put in the same position in a series of words, phrases, or clauses. For example: Mary likes running, swimming and skiing. This is parallel.
Faulty parallelism would be: Mary likes running, swimming and to ski.
Students will be asked to use parallelism at least once once in their essay that is due next week.
Every week there are four parts to the Lost Tools of Writing Homework:
1. The Lost Tools writing assignment
2. The Lost Tools List of Terms
3. Spelling List
4. Grammar review
A separate sheet is attached for each homework section.
The "Terms," the "Spelling List," and the "Grammar Review" are cumulative so that the entire list of words covered so far this semester will be included each week.
Again, it is my delight to be with your bright and inquisitive children,
Mrs. Jeffries
